How to Dry Your Synthetic Hair Extensions

synthetic hair

synthetic hair

1. Squeeze the excess water out of the hair. Simply place the hair in the palm of your hand. Then, close your hand as if you’re making a fist to squeeze out the excess water. Work from the ends of the hair to the top while gently squeezing. Don’t rub the hair against a towel, and don’t ring the hair the way you would ring out a towel.
2. Place the hair extensions on a towel. Place each extension on a towel with space between each track so that the pieces don’t overlap. They will take longer to dry if you pile them on top of each other. Don’t disturb the hair by brushing or combing it while it is wet.
3. Air dry the hair. Don’t use a blowdryer.

Tips: Do not use hot tools or a blowdryer on 100% synthetic hair extensions.

How to become a wig supplier?

Wig making is a large industry, which may come as a surprise to some. Most wig companies produce thousands of wigs, beards, and other hair-related items for their customers. If you want to become a wig maker, you don’t need anything more than high school education, though you should be prepared to take additional beautician’s courses or to begin in an entry-level job where you will be trained how to use the equipment. Prospective wig makers need confidence and concentration to meet their daily quota. They also need to be flexible as working conditions in a wig making factory can change very quickly.

If you want to become a wig maker, you probably already know that the job is often misunderstood even though it is an important part of a number of industries. A wig maker generally makes wigs and beards in an industrial work environment and, at most companies, may be asked to make more than 100 wigs in a day. In general, wigs are made by using a machine to thread artificial, or sometimes real, hair through needles.

Although you don’t need post-secondary education to become a wig maker, it is a good idea to take beautician courses ,or something similar, at a technical school or community college. Avoid spending money on short online courses as they provide little in the way of useful training. Most companies do offer on-the job training, which often consists of three months or more of learning how to use the wig-making machinery. The companies generally pay minimum wage to begin with, though there may be some kind of pay ladder which you can move up as you gain more experience.

To become a wig maker, you need to be extremely confident in your ability as you will be creating dozens, if not hundreds, of wigs a day without much supervision once you become more experienced. It is also vital for you to have a high level of concentration. When you are dealing with powerful machinery, losing concentration can not only cause you to damage the wig you are making, it also increases your chances of sustaining a serious injury from the machines.

If you want to become a wig maker, you must also be flexible and creative. These are important skills because companies routinely change wig and beard designs. The pressure is then on the employee to quickly learn and perfect the new design without delay. You must also have patience in order to become a wig maker as moving up a company’s ranks takes years of hard work and persistence.

What are hair extensions?

Hair extensions, also called hair weaves, are lengths of real or synthetic hair that are closely attached to a person’s scalp, adding length and/or thickness to the person’s own natural hair. There are several different systems for attaching hair extensions, some of which are longer lasting than others. When well matched in color and texture, and professionally applied by a competent stylist, hair extensions are designed to mix in and move naturally with a person’s own hair, making it difficult to tell the person is wearing them. They can provide volume, extend hair, and add highlights or lowlights. With the proper maintenance, some extensions can last up to a full year before they need to be removed.

Types of Extensions
Both human and synthetic hair extensions are available, and both come in a variety of colors, textures, styles, and lengths. Each type has its own set of advantages and disadvantages. Natural or human hair extensions are usually significantly more expensive than their synthetic counterparts, though they are typically considered to be of higher quality. Synthetic hair is made from chemically processed fibers; although more affordable, it may not look as real and can be more difficult to style.

Human Hair
High quality, long-lasting human hair extensions are often available only through salons. The hair can be washed, conditioned, dried, and colored just like a person’s own hair. It also tends to provide a great deal of styling freedom; heat styling at temperatures reaching 430°F (about 221°C) should not damage the hair. This typically results in faster and longer-lasting styles with more shine.

Synthetic Hair
Made from various types of synthetic fibers, these hair extensions are often available in a wider variety of beauty supply stores, drug stores, and other locations. The quality of synthetic hair can vary widely, but the two most common types are made of Kanekalon® and Toyokalon® fibers. Of the two, Kanekalon® is the most resistant to heat, and can be styled with curling irons and straighteners at up to 230°F (110°C) without melting or other damage. Toyokalon®, although less heat-resistant, usually tangles less and may last longer.

Application Techniques
Hair extensions can be attached in a number of different ways, depending on the type of hair, the amount being added, the budget of the consumer, and his or her lifestyle. When significant amounts of hair are to be attached, or the hair is expected to last for a long time, a professional stylist typically should be consulted.

In case of synthetic extensions the colors are denoted by numbers. However every manufacturer offers a different set of patterns, shades and numbers. A variety of textures is available in synthetic extensions. Yaki is a common texture that resembles the Afro-Caribbean hairstyle. In case of European texture the hair is straight with minimal waves in it. The deep waves look like the spiral curls. The deep wave or the romantic wave lends softer, romantic curls. For an out-and-out afro look you can sport the Jheri curl. In case you want to sport the Spanish wave or Indian wave, it is better to go for human hair instead of synthetic hair extensions.
You should follow proper hair care regimen to ensure that the synthetic extensions hair stays put. You must use a milder shampoo for your hair. Each kind of synthetic extension comes with a different set of directions recommending the best methods to shampoo, comb and dry the extensions. Do not blow dry your hair in a higher temperature as it can melt the glue in your hair. It is vital that you follow these directions to maintain your synthetic tresses.

A Professional Hairdresser’s Advice for Women with Thinning Hair

Since so many women in the community have asked me to look for solutions to their thinning hair, I recently sat down with Denise McAdam to discuss this issue.

What Happens to Our Hair as We Get a Little Older?

Denise has worked with thousands of women, but, all of them have one thing in common. As they get a little older, their hair changes. She explains that, as our hormones shift during and after menopause, our hair goes from having 3 levels to having 2. In other words, it gets thinner.
Ok, so the problem is simple. What about the solution? Denise says that there are actually 7 things that we can do to improve the quality of our hair in our 60s and beyond.

Don’t forget that your overall health and the health of your hair are connected. That’s why the following simple ideas are so powerful.

Take Skin and Hair Supplements

When it comes to hair supplements, it’s hard to know where to start. Denise says that she has been working with Viviskell and Imedeen for years and they really do help.

These are over-the-counter supplements that Denise says are good for strengthening and building your hair. Of course, everyone’s body is different, so, you’ll need to experiment to see which one is right for you.

Eat Your Way to Healthy Hair

Taking supplements doesn’t get you off the hook for eating a healthy diet. Denise says that one of the best things we can do for our hair is to eat healthy, nutritionally rich food. A good rule of thumb is, if it’s good for your bones, it’s good for your hair.

Exercise Regularly

Can physical exercise really help to save your hair? You bet! In fact, exercising is probably one of the best things that you can do to improve every aspect of your life after 60.

Exercise has a positive impact on your hormones. It also helps to keep your blood flowing properly. If you add in a little weight exercise, you will be doing wonders for your bones too.

Get a Great Haircut

Improving the quality of your hair from the inside out is important. At the same time, we shouldn’t ignore quick solutions either.

One of the best ways to make your hair look fuller is simply to invest in a good haircut. When you think about it, your hair is the one fashion accessory that you wear every day.

It may seem unnecessary to invest in a professional haircut, but, think about how much you spend on clothing and makeup. Maybe it’s time to reallocate some of that money to improving the look and quality of your hair.

Use the Right Shampoo for Thinning Hair

According to Denise, volumizing shampoos really do work. So, make sure that you invest in a high quality shampoo and a conditioner. She says that we should apply the conditioner with a comb so that the cuticles of the hair are flattened and smoothed.

Consider Hair Extensions

One of the best things about fashion for women over 60 is that we get to experiment. If your hair really is thin and you have tried everything else, why not consider hair extensions for thin hair. They can be so much fun!

Sleep on Silk

Ok, I have to be honest. I love this suggestion. For starters, silk is much gentler on your hair. Beyond this, how cool would it be to sleep on a silk pillow? I would feel like royalty! We spend 8 hours a day in bed. Why not make this time luxurious?

If you follow these guidelines, you will optimize the look of your hair. More importantly, you will feel healthier and happier. After all, when you invest in your body, you see the results in your hair.
